Date: 17 to 21 December 2007

Place: Hotel San Martin, Viña del Mar

Program

We shall have two introductory self contained courses about fundamental aspects of nonlinear phenomenon, and also invited lecturers about recent advances in the area.  The rest of the program consists in normal seminars and short seminars which will be given preferently by young researchers of Chile and the region. A posters session will take place on Wednesday afternoon with the aim of giving  the authors of posters  the opportunity to discuss their work with the participants. We remark that the Workshop has an important pedagogical component and has been intended to help in an effectice way graduate students and young scientists to get un up-to-date view of this central field of physics and also the tools to get involved in active research on the subject. It is for this reason that traditionally at least half of the participants have been pre-graduate students in their last year, graduate students and young researchers starting their career. This Workshop is then half way between a Summer School and a normal Conference with special emphasis in the Summer School aspect. In this line we have two introductory self contained courses and we have always asked the speakers to make an effort to give a self contained character to their lectures. We have also organized special informal sessions after the current program each day to supplement the introductory courses with excersises and  complete discussions of the subjects of the lectures. These sessions are supervised by the organizers and all the members of our research group in Chile which is the central actor behind this Workshop. We expect an audience of 80 participants of which around 40 will be students and young researchers.
